The movie starts with Benjamin Martin, a single father, being very adamant about not want Gabriel, his oldest son, to go to war. He does not believe in fighting, but Gabriel goes anyway.

Then Tavington finds out its Benjamin Martin and goes after his family, they luckily escape and flee. But unfortunately he collects all the towns people from the Martin's hometown and locks then in a church and burns them. One of those including Gabriel Martins fiance, and the majority of the Militia's families. So then when the militia come back they see that their families are gone and get very down about it, Gabriel goes and attacks. Eventually at the end of the movie Gabriel is killed by Tavington in a battle and then his father, Ben, kills Tavington.

There was a lot more to the movie, like clever stunts they pulled on the British and tons of battles and escapes and close calls. I covered the main points but a movie like this can hardly be summarized, I truly enjoyed it and learned a lot about the spirit of the patriot soldiers who died for our country, g
