The Righteous of Justice on Law

We see them in different colors. We see them wearing different shades of uniform. They are the men and women who protect our lives everyday. They are our local and national police officers. As they patrol around the city, their job is to ensure our safety. In the past decade some of the nations finest did more than just ensure our safety, but also racial profile people.

Civilians want to be sure that those who protect us are really protecting us rather than abusing us. Every day we avow these men and women of law to protect us. We should be safe and proud that there are law enforcers around, yet there are some whom don't feel safe from them. Some might feel that they might not get the help when ever they need it just because of the color of their skin. Being the enforcers of the law, they should act more mature then to judge others. Yes, there are a great amount of law enforcers who don't racial profile others. Even though there are a large percentage of those who don't, it is really hard to tell aside which enforcers are racist or not. We don't want to go to an officer and find out that they are not going to help us, or even take law into another step by beating us to death.

All around the nation there are a lot of stories

An example of a police brutality was when two Los Angeles police officers try to beat a man to death. This man known as Rodney King, was beaten repeatedly even though there was no sign that he was able to fight back. This incident which was video taped by a bystander shocked the nation. At the beginning of this video, Mr. King was charging at one of the officers, both officers then used their batons and kept beating him. He kept trying to get up, yet he was unable to. Right when it seems as if this brutality was to stop when one of the officer pull out his handcuffs it didn't. Both police officers beat Mr. King with their batons again violating his civil rights. At that point "guilt has been established." (qtd. in Garcia, pars. 9 & 10)

We must remember that the very first police forces in this country were the slave patrols, so certain racist assumptions are designed into the very structure of policing in America. Racism is prompted an exacerbated by the economic fears of whites, and police are seen as the thin blue line protecting them from their fears. That's the structural set-up that gets us in so much trouble." (qtd. in Roleff 60)

Police officers should be responsible for what they are doing. If they can enforce the law they should be able to know what is right from wrong; especially the partner. Most of the time people tend to help one another out. Everyone should be responsible for their actions. If they did what they did, they should know the consequence.

The reason why there is even police brutality is because some law enforcers racial profile people. In a 1992 report, it had stated that police generally profile "black men" between the ages of 21-24 as part of a gang. (Garcia, par. 36) These law enforcers of today act similar to the early police force:

Police brutality is a great issue is ou
