Humans and Replicants Alike

'Humans and replicants are more alike than they are different'. Discuss.

Replicants are an artificial life form, created to be stronger, harder working, more intelligent and to have super-natural or paranormal strengths and abilities. However, in many cases, humans and replicants are more alike than they are different. They possess enhanced physical skills, bizarre capabilities to endure surroundings that no human could come close to, for example extreme temperatures, and eerie reflective eyes. Nevertheless, although they may appear to be completely unusual machinery, the replicants desire and hold the same needs as mankind; emotion, thought and life.

The physical attributes of replicants are, undoubtedly, far superior to those of human beings. They were crafted to work intensely "off-world as slave labour", merely an extension or evolution of actual humans. They were formed from humans, and therefore, although not being entirely physically related, they were still made


Rachael on the other hand, didn't even know she was a replicant. Her replicant model of NEXUS 7 was especially similar to humans. She was of course once engineered and implanted with memories, however, her belief in these memories would clearly describe her to be human. She was made to be a human 'replicate', not a robot. Love and relationships between people is a necessity for all human beings, and replicants. This truthful love and passion is also evident between Batty and Pris. Bonding and developing feelings for other replicants and people, is not a likely action for artificial machines.
