In Monclova, Mexico my life was changed by the image of a man that will never leave my mind. Hector, a seventy year old, is a work horse in the house of God. Hector helped build over one hundred churches in Mexico every summer for the past ten years. Despite his age, and his knowledge of English, one thing was evident, everyone loved him and so did the Lord.

The youth group traveled to Mexico for a mission week of helping build a church. We would wake up at five thirty every morning, and head out to the vans. After we got to the site we would have a quick devotional, and after that we would get started early before the sun came up. Work throughout the whole week included carrying, cutting, and placing rhubarb. Then, after Hector had determined the rhubarb was in the correct places we would tie it. After the rhubarb was completely ready we would begin mixing cement, but once you start mixing you can't stop! Thank the Lord we had a cement mixer and we didn't have to do the Hector


Not a day goes by without one thought from Mexico going through my mind and either making me laugh or making me thankful I am a Christian. When I slip and fall I know that He will be there to pick me back up and lead me in the right direction. I know that He will never leave my side even if I try to leave His. I also know that His love for me is beyond words and could never be described. Not one day will go by where I don't mess up, but not a day will go by that God's love won't be waiting by my side. I can look at the time I spent in Mexico with my youth group and know that there are two churches that have places to go because of what God did through us. To know that you gave people something that they couldn't have had without you makes me feel valuable.
