During the great depression the crash hit the people of the U.S. very hard. Some people didn't even have enough money to eat. Things were bad but the people still had faith in their country. They held protests to try and tell the government that things needed to be changed. Local police always tried to stop these protest but failed because the people just kept having them. They protested but they never lost faith in their country. "The drought it got my crops, mister banker got my home and I ain't got no home in this world anymore." (Guthrie, I Ain't Got No Home) This quote shows how bad the times were. The dust bowl wouldn't allow anyone to grow any decent crops. Without money people were not able to make payments on their possessions. Many people held protests against the bad times hoping the government would set up programs to help them.
