A Writers Nightmare

Over the years there have been numerous assignments given to me throughout the past. Some I rather enjoyed, others, I did not really want to recall memories upon to accomplish the task. I do remember one assignment in particular in which I learned both a valuable lesson in writing, and an important lesson in life. The tale begins in my 11th year of life, I believe it was seventh grade in which I was assigned a partner to write an essay. Although I'm not to fond of company in my studies, for in my opinion it slows you down, but this is where my valuable life lesson plays its hand.

It was a fine Spring day, perfect for an essay according to my teacher. She assigned a partner at random, leaving us all in suspense as to what the project was going to be about. I was assigned a rather social, outgoing person, who never ceased in his conversations of all that he had seen in his eyes at parties, and other various things that would interest the youth of America today. Needless to say, we were complete opposites of each other. The assignment was to write an essay, the topic: things you have done to make your life worthwhile. I groaned at the idea. It was apparent that we weren't going to get much accomplished with my naivete of the

As I said before, I thought the essay was perfect, a pure stroke of genius. If only my colleague, or one of my peers would have taken the time to review the essay, and tell me how utterly horrid the depicts of my associates actions were, a tragedy could have been prevented. I handed the essay into my eager instructor, who seemed anxious to read all of our papers on what kind of people we were. I was anxious to receive my grade, I followed the exact format as it said, especially the large, black bold letters that read: "Be as descriptive as possible, exaggerate if you want to," and that I did. I wrote a lot depicting my partners actions, especially the ones that occurred on a particular evening I overheard him ramble on about to a group of cronies he favored. Unfortunately, I went to far. The depiction's were very descriptive, too much in fact. I saw my instructor look down at one particular paper, unbeknownst to me that it was mine, I paid no mind to it. I paid no mind to the rush to the phone in the next room, and the conversation my instructor had with the local authorities. Before I knew it, a swarm of officers rushed into the room and with a struggle, apprehended my cohort and proceeded to inform him of his rights. Just then a shiny silver pair of handcuffs was put around his wrists and in the blink of an eye, he was swept out the door. I didn't know what to think. I was too scared to think along with everyone else. I wondered why he was taken in, and if it had any connection to me.

When my partner was done with what seemed like an eternity of meaningless jargon, he finally asked me what I was going to write. I already knew what I was going to write down about myself, and although I would regret it later, I was going to write about him, but I gave him fair warning and asked what he was going to "put" about himself. He replied in a manner w
