Love
In the political midst of controversial topics that engulf our society, I write on the most basic and yet debated topics of all time - love. Many modern writers have aimed to write about the Romantic Tradition in various ways, but to be completely honest, in doing so they have misled many little girls, and I myself have grown up naive. I have grown up believing that one day my Prince Charming or Knight in Shining Armor will come and find me and whisk me off into the sunset on his beautiful white horse, only to live happily ever after. I am not alone either in believing in such a fairy tale, many women wait for that "perfect man" to come along, and they wait only to be disappointed. They then find out that not only is this man unattainable, but non-existent. They find that not only is the perfect man unattainable, but so is the "perfect love life". There is no such thing as a perfect love as every relationship has its ups and downs; love is what you make it to be. For such an overused word, so many people have no idea what it means to love. In the story, A Man from Mars, Christine believes that no man will love her because she is unattractive, and unappealing. Among m she was considered an "honorary person" instead of a wo
I cannot speak for everyone when I say this, but I too, have my own views on when love becomes love. Is it love when your palms get all sweaty and your heart is racing? No, that's not love, it's like. Or how about when you can't keep your hands or eyes off of them? That isn't love, its lust. Do you belong to them because the sight of them makes your heart skip a beat? That's infatuation. "Erotic Love" is the style of love that involves the ideal love, normally based on physical attraction. "Manic Love" has been characterized by an intense preoccupation with a loved one. It's a love full of demands, and a need for constant reassurance and assurance of love. It is often full of dramatic scenes and fights. The manic lover needs to overcome loneliness, discontent and a lack of self-esteem. "Pragmatic" is the fourth style of love; it is a practical style, requiring that the partner must be compatible with a certain criteria or standard. The criteria may include topics such as education, social class, occupation, religion, and politics. Physical attraction is not usually as important in this case but being socially and personally compatible is. Christine also began to think that the "peculiar little man chasing her" believes that he is in love with her (Christine). She begins pondering this because he follows her around, everywhere. This is a misconception of love. It's not affection; it is stalking, and dangerous. The odd little man copies her class schedule and waits for her before and after class. He also stands behind her in the cafeteria while she is eating with friends, and follows her to the coffee shop and even home. When he is not stalking her, he is making prank calls early in the morning or late at night, sometimes without saying a word, simply breathing heavily into the receiver. Christine begins, after running from him, to find the entire situation flattering. Almost "game like". Christine even let her friends play the game too. She began to believe that this man wanted her for a reason, but what that reason was, she couldn't figure out.
