Metamorphosis bu Ovid - Pyramus Thisbe Dedalus and Icarus
Metamorphosis; a change in form function or appearance. In Ovid’s book “Metamorphosis” he includes many myths that go through some sort of change during the course of the story. Two of the myths; “Pyramus and Thisbe” and “Dedalus and Icarus” go through changes in the flow of the story making them apt to be included in Ovid’s book. One of the major changes in the story of “Pyramus and Thisbe” occurs when the two young lovers finally decide to meet outside. In the story Pyramus and Thisbe are very much in love. In spite of this their parents forbid their love and try to keep them apart. The only place they can talk to each other is through a crack in the wall. Day after day they meet at the same place without being able to see each other, rather comforting each other with their voices. Finally one day they decide not to put up with this anymore. In the story it says “… Pyramus and Thisbe / Met at the usual place and first in whispers/ Complained and came – high time! – to a decision. That night when all was quiet they would fool / Their guardians or try to come outdoors” (l. 28-3
