Feminism

There are many adversities in our society, which proceed to affect the everyday lives of all social beings in this world. One particular subject that I am referring to is feminism. Now you may not be aware of this specific subject and its significance as of yet. However, you will obtain a decisive idea of how feminism plays an immense role in our lives.

Let us first contemplate what feminism and its theory refers to. Feminism draws attention to women's issues and concerns. Feminism refers to the body of thought on the cause and nature of women's disadvantaged and subordinate position in society, and to efforts to minimize and eliminate that subordination.(Brym,1998,p.206) It focuses on the relations between genders and how both male and female become classified as distinct groups rather than a team united as one. The feminist theory is fairly comparable to this explanation and determinedly claims that the basic structure of society is patriarchal, or male-dominated. Feminism distinguishes sex from gender, which is socially constructed, to which men and women may conform and by which they are usually judged. (Brym,1998,p.503) Following this brief understanding we shall try to develop the political idea in relation to feminism, by

Why would groups such as these presume and support that women are inferior to men? Whether or not you may be developing similar questions to this, ask yourself if you accede on women's rights and issues by what you have previously contemplated. Whatever your answer may be keep in mind that there are dozens of issues that will arise throughout this composition. Personally, as a woman I believe that the certain dilemmas women face today are repulsive and unquestionably need a vast amount of transformation.

It may seem impossible to think positive when there are many boundaries tied to feminism, which of course causes this topic to have an extensive amount of uncertainties. First, as previously mentioned feminists argue against the idea that women should be at home 24/7 taking care of the children and participating with chores such as doing dishes, washing laundry, cleaning toilet bowl, cooking, etc. These types of household chores are referred to as domestic labor, and are currently trying to gain recognition as "labor".

Another topic that should definitely be encountered is the inequality in the labor force. There are innumerable problems in the corporate world connecting to unequal pay, as well as status in the rankings of work. Let me introduce to you the concept of "the glass ceiling". The glass ceiling prevents women from achieving recognition and higher ranks in the corporate world. It's where women face invisible barriers in penetrating the highest levels of organizations where power is concentrated and exercised.(Brym,1998,p.196) It also leads people, especially women, to ponder how such a negative assumption could develop. Speaking from a woman's perspective, I would certainly agree that any woman on this earth could execute any particular task, to that of a man's, just as well if not any better. So why all of this prejudiced judgement?

My thoughts were certainly that of an anti-feminist until I became involved in a sociology class. It did not occur to me what domestic labor was; it seems like situations comparable to this are taken for granted. However, it is up to the women of all cultures to put in jeopardy the ideology of male superiority, in order to levitate women's rights and issues.

Personally, I would agree that feminism is a significant subject because it makes an unequivocal difference in many peoples lives, especially in preference of women. Feminists do acquire support from well-disposed groups as well, such as the ecofeminists. The ecofeminist claims that women are more innately and more sensitively attuned to nature than men and therefore have the unique capacity to construct a new, more enlightened approach to the environment.(Brym,1998,p.373) Evaluating such a beautiful remark, it gives purpose to why earth's character has been demystified as Mother Nature. To everyone's knowledge, we know that Mother Nature is graceful and harmonious to all living creatures, and nourishes the life of all the people of this divine earth. Feminists have not consistently had moral support with regards to their beliefs and values. There are various groups out there, which look at feminism as opposing.

There are many categories in relation to feminism that should certainly be introduced, and this of course is to give us an improved understanding. Let's begin with liberal feminism. Liberal feminists advocate policies for overcoming barriers, such as affirmative action programs for hiring and promoting women. In simpler terms, they make sure that women are getting treated equally to men, with regards to their workload, pay, responsibility, training, etc. Liberal feminism is defined as the concept that seeks equality of opportunity for women and men in a society that is hierarchically ordered and similar to our pres
