War on Iraq : Whether or Not to Support Bush’s Decision

On September 11, 2002, the United States became victim to Al-Qaeda’s terrorist attack. The attack caused the loss of 3000 men, women, and children. Only time will tell what Saddam Hussein plans on doing with his current production of nuclear weapons. Former president Clinton said it well, “Hussein has the weapons, and he will use them.” With Hussein’s growing rage towards the United States, the weapons which he possesses become a threat to the American nation. As president George Bush clearly states, “A pre-emptive attack on Iraq will allow special weapons investigations to be pursued on Iraq territory, which in turn will prevent Saddam Hussein from bringing another World Trade Centre event to America”. However, Hussein not only has revenge from the Gulf War on his mind. Investigations have shown that Hussein’s plans also include the invading of the Middle Eastern countries, in turn, gaining possession on the world’s largest oil reserves. These reserves account for approximately 45% of all oil imported to America. “This can lead to a position of nuclear blackmail for North America”, quotes vice president Cheney. To further the assumptions of the U.N. and president Bush, Iraq has been finding ways to get around the conditions
