The "speaker" of the poem is a really upset son, which is trying to tell his father to fight death and never give up. The poem is a conversation or a monologue in which only the speaker which we can suppose is Thomas communicate to us about his thoughts and feellings about death. The speaker, repeats several times the line " Do not go gentle into that good night" to emphazise his idea to fight death as much as possible and live. Throught the poem, phrases are repeated as well as words. The last stanza is the one who repeats in an alternate way and at the end itīs put together both of this ideas of Do not go gentle into that good night and rage, rage against the dying light.

The setting of the poem is uncertain. Because of the seriuse tone and the theme of the poem, we may suggest that the poem took place in a situation of life and death. This situation must have been a really hard one in which Thomaīs father is in the verge of dying and the speaker is trying to c


The speaker starts by stating that old age shouldnīt be a reason to die, that that old age can fight against death. Thomas also saids that wise men also fight death, eventhough they know that nothing awaits them, they have been good through out their life and had spoken the truth, they too fight against death. "Good man" according to Thomas, also fight death because they have lived a morally and proper way to live all their lives, but they fear that their deeds may not be good enough, so they donīt go gently. Not even wild men, said Dylan, die gently because they lived their lives to the fullest and " learn, too late, they grieved is on its way. Lastly, the speaker talks about "grave men" who are near death, who are happy and " who see with blinding eyes", fight against death aswell. The last stanza Thomas talks directly to his father, telling him that fight, and never give up to " curse, bless"
