In the novel Montana1948 by Larry Watson a locally acclaimed doctor and war hero, Frank Hayden is caught sexually abusing local Native American women. His brother Wesley who is the county sheriff catches him and locks him in his basement where Frank commits suicide. Wesley is your traditional well mannered countryside sheriff fighting with the dark side of his family.

Wesley shows an extreme disapproval for his father's lavish life style. His father owns one of the largest farms in all of Bentrock and isn't the least bit shy to show it off
