A Leader Named Ralph
In the novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding navigates the reader through a process of what a society would face without rules or with a split leadership. He uses one of the main characters, Ralph, to show what a leader should possess in a situation such as this. Some of the qualities he discusses are that of initiative, structure, and being open to suggestions. One quality that all leaders possess is initiative, and Ralph is no exception. Throughout the novel Ralph is seen as someone who is not afraid to go first or take charge of a situation. “Behind Ralph the tall grass [fills] with silent hunters. Ralph looks at Jack. ‘You are a hunter.’ Jack [goes] red. ‘
