A Shape of Thing
I have enjoyed the performance by the actors in the play, A Shape of Things, The actors dealt the issued of relationship with dignity, especially Adam who took the heart broken news with acceptance. Evelyn shows no emotions after using Adam for her thesis presentation. Phillip considered being a loser express very well that he only cares for himself and not for anyone else. And then there is Jenny who begins to feel doubtfulness in marrying to Phillip. Although the play does not have a real conflict, it does have a basic storyline regarding to relationship between two persons. A relationship can be said to be like a roll coaster having it ups and downs. The ups are whenever both parties of the relationship have some kind of happy moments together, being joyful at each presence, and have dreams become true. On the other hand, the down part is when at least one party feels different in viewpoints, ideas, thinking, dreams tend to be drifted away and mostly being unhappy. With the basic understand of relationship, the play was very easy to understand. What shocked me most was how Evelyn was being cruel to Adam during her thesis presentation. Evelyn could have said in private to Adam for not accepting the
Evelyn is a very aggressive, very controlling and demanding, and very persuasive individual. Evelyn becomes aggressive whenever she speaks out of her mind. Evelyn also shows some controlling when she painted her phone number on Adam's coat. By Evelyn's persuasion, Adam had lost weight, had a nose surgery, and got rid of Adam's ugly woven coat for a brand name jacket. Karolina Czerwinksi, who plays Evelyn, expressed her body and voice very well in the play. Evelyn had been using Adam for her master's thesis. Evelyn physical gave her body to Adam whenever she feels the need to be in control. Evelyn voices her ideas toward Adam, which seemed to be the final, say of all things in their relationship. Because of Evelyn's treatment toward Adams during her thesis presentation, she was disliked or even hatred toward the end of the play. Victor May, who plays Phillip, also did an excellent job expressing his body and voice. Phillip can be considered to be a pain in the butt because of his strong viewpoint about little issues. But overall, he is all right. Since the setting was at a college school, the actors were wearing casual clothing as their costume for the play was well displayed. Nobody in the play was over dressed. The period of time suggests that it was in the springtime. Another actor, Phillip, is seemed to be like Evelyn but is different in a different way. Phillip is also aggressive. Phillip tend to speak out his mind straight up and doesn't back down until he had been asked to back off. It is said to me that if one individual is a like as another individual. You tend to see both people have some kind of tension when get together. The scene where all for actors met at Phillip's apartment proved that Phillip and Evelyn has some kind of tension when they began to arguing
