The story Kidnapped is about a young man in the Lowlands, the southern part of Scotland. His name is David Balfour and his dad has recently died, his mother has died a long time ago. He is in an orphan and is seventeen years old. David decides to go back and seek his fortune, but before he leave to go to the city Edinburgh, he meets with his guardian, Mr. Campbell and he tells David that he has an uncle. His uncle's name is Ebenezer Balfour and he is at the House of Shaws. So David finds out that his family is very wealthy. So David decides to go to Cramond to find his uncle and meet his wealthy relatives.

David Balfour is the main character in this book. He is seventeen years old and has no parents. David was bored and raised in the Lowlands of Scotland. His father has died in the beginning of the story. So that means it leaves David as an orphan. He is on a mission to find his uncle and a way

The uncle of David, Ebenezer Balfour has planned out to kill David. He has planned out to kill David because he wants full control of the Balfour fortunes. He is very mean, and treats David mean as if he is a thief. He acts like he cares for David's dad when he died. Really what he is trying to do is to kill David and control the family fortune. Ebenezer has had a fight wit David's dad in the early days over a woman, who soon became David's mother. So Ebenezer took the House of Shaws and David's dad gets the women. Ebenezer is an old beaten man and he sounds defeated at the end of the novel.

Alan Breck Stewart is a flamboyant but skilled warrior. He is an excellent swordsman, marksman, and guide; he can find his way through the Scottish highlands while avoiding enemy soldiers hunting for him. He is also a baggert, he is quick to take offense, but also quick to forgive. Alan Breck is the most interesting character in Kidnapped.

Mr. Campbell is a character in this story. Campbell is David's guardian and a preacher. He kindly takes care of David and reveals that he has an uncle and he is very wealthy.
