The short story °A Rose for Emily± by William Faulkner portrays how an overly protected love could destroy one¯s life. Emily Grierson, the main character of the story, first gives the reader an impression of acting inhumane and even mad. But after a closer look into her character, I think that the reader could almost understand how and why she turned out the way that she did.
