The book I choose to read was Mahatma Gandhi: His life and Influence, by Chandra Kumar and Mohinder Puri. This book proved to be an exceptional overview of the life and achievements made by Mahatma Gandhi. This book illustrates that the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi was remarkable and unforgettable. He changed so much for the people of India and for India herself. He brought them hope and accomplished more then anything, by using Non-violence, Truth and Honesty. "I am in the world feeling my way to light 'amid the encircling gloom'. I often err and miscalculate… My trust is solely in God. And I trust men only because I trust God. If I had no God to rely upon, I should be like Timor, a hater of my species." He brought them hope and allowed them to dream of a free India, which would be able to deal with her own problems, and enjoy her own success. In the beginning of the book the authors start of with the early years of Gandhi. Mohandas Gandhi was the third son born to Karamchand and Putlibai; Mohandas came from a very large extended family.
