Samson was the judge of Israel. His long hair was a symbol of his vows to God. As long as he stayed true to God by not cutting his hair, his strength remained strong. The enemies of his people were the Philistines. They were able cause the destruction of Samson through a woman named Delilah. One night when Samson was asleep, Delilah cut his hair causing all of his strength to vanish. It wasn't that the hair itself gave Samson strength, but it just represented a bond between him in the Lord. After losing his strength, Samson was captured, chained and blinded in the temple of the Philistine. As time passed, Samson regained his strength and crushed the temple with his bare hands sacrificing himself along with those who had captured him. This, however, is not the entire story. Samson had everything he wanted as long as he had stayed in God's will. Samson appeared to me to be as weak in the heart as he was strong in the arms. He wanted more than God himself could give and this is why he suffered the way he did. Even though Samson fell into sin with Delilah, he remember God's will and sacrificed himself to fulfill his duty.
