Cloning
The biological definition of a clone is an organism that has the same genetic information as another organism or organisms. From this definition and from information about the science behind cloning, my current view on cloning is that it is ethical. This statement ignores information about how we can misuse cloning and what consequences occur when the procedure is unsuccessful. I currently do not think cloning should be used until it is perfected. I doubt however that we will allow cloning to be misused, and think most people would probably have this opinion on cloning, but their lack of knowledge on cloning, or their belief that cloning would be misused, is the reason for differences of opinion. Still, I think that an explanation on the history, techniques and reason for researching the technology of cloning is necessary. To begin with, many people in this world do not know the history of cloning enough to know whether to believe in it or not. In the book Brave New World Aldous Huxley's emphasis is on cloning and the perfection of society. Huxley reveals some of the main sources of social stability. Through the use of science, people are not only created, but also conditioned to guarantee they will be happy members of s
Secondly, there are several techniques scientists use when cloning organisms. In 1984, Steen Willadsen, a Danish scientist, reports he has made a genetic copy of a lamb from early sheep embryo cells, a process now called "twinning" (www.reproductivecloning.net). Other scientists will eventually use his method to "twin" cattle, pigs, goats, rabbits and rhesus monkeys (www.reproductivecloning.net). Philosophical systems must be tested where the rubber meets the road ( The Perfect Baby pg.70). The main emphasis was on the procedures used to clone and whether they were safe for those that were being cloned (The Perfect Baby pg.70). I think that techniques used when cloning are carefully done but I also think they are quite meaningless when they do them on mice! Some humans have been used buy has their been any major success stories on them, no. I think scientists should stop messing with nature and let humans lives play out as they should no matter how safe of techniques they use. In Conclusion, I still think that an explanation on the history, techniques and reason for researching the technology of cloning is very necessary and vital if we want to improve the findings and positive improvements of cloning. If given the chance, I would never make another Jose, that's what separates people from other people, you are the only one like you in the world and there would be no reason for me to make a copy. I am irreplaceable and that's what makes me unique in my world
