A Seperate Peace

"Why was it Necessary For Phineas To Die?"

In A Separate Peace, there were two main characters: Gene and Phineas. Phineas was a fun loving soul, who didn't like to follow the rules. While Gene was a hard working, good student, who did almost everything Phineas said to. Gene began to have thoughts that Phineas was out to get him, to sabotage his grades. Phineas was not good in school at all, so Gene thought Phineas was trying to "take Gene down with him".

In the beginning Phineas and Gene jumped out of this tree into the river. But before they jumped Gene almost fell, until Phineas reached out and caught him. I could not escape a feeling that this was my own funeral, and you do not cry in that case." Gene had become a part of Phineas when he decided to make him fall out of the tree. Now Phineas is forever a part of Gene, even though Gene won't be able to listen to Phineas' ideas on situations, he will forever influence Gene. If Phineas had not died, the story would go on forever, until he did. Gene became a part of Phineas, and if Phineas had not died, Gene would always "be Phineas".

One day Phineas decides to take Gene, on bikes, to the beach. They go to the beach and sleep on the sand. The next morning, Gene has a test, but Phineas wants to go for a quick swim. Gene is angered because he feels Phineas is trying to make him miss his test. Gene ends u
