West Nile Virus

Everyone expects to die, but who thinks it will be the cause of a mosquito? Today I'm going to give you the information to better your understanding of The West Nile Virus, and help to keep you safe. There is four points I want to tell you about the West Nile Virus. First is what the West Nile Virus is, secondly, the risk of contracting the West Nile Virus, third I want to tell you how to identify and treat the virus, and finally, how to prevent West Nile.

West Nile is an infection spread by mosquitoes that may, in a very small number of cases, cause encephalitis, which is an inflammation of the brain. West Nile virus is a bird-borne infection that was first isolated in Africa in 1937. The virus is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes that bite an infected bird and then an individual. The first known incidence of the virus in humans in North America was in 1999. In that year, the


People over 50 years of age have the highest risk of developing a severe illness because as we age, our bodies have a harder time fighting off disease. People with compromised immune systems are also at increased risk. However, anyone can get the virus.

Given that mosquitoes are associated with West Nile Virus transmission, the key to preventing and controlling future outbreaks of the Virus is to eliminate exposure to mosquitoes by any number of methods. The importance of eliminating mosquito breeding areas and taking precaution against mosquito bites cannot be stressed enough. Fortunately, preventative measures and a number of products are available to repel mosquitoes. When properly used, insect repellents can discourage biting insects, such as mosquitoes, from landing on treated skin or clothing. Doing this lessens your chances of getting bit, which in turn lessens your chances
