Two philosophers, John Locke and Jean Jacque Rousseau had varying opinions on the natural state of man. Locke mentioned that, "Since every man is equal and since most man do not concern themselves with equality and justice, the enjoyment of rights in the state of nature is unsafe and insecure." This implies that man is naturally jealous of others and therefore acts in an evil manner.........
When a person is born, he is completely innocent, vulnerable and unable to make judgments for himself. His thoughts and actions are provoked and influenced by his conscience and his surroundings (other humans). Conscience is the ability to differentiate between good and bad. Without one, man would be completely evil, for there would be no order

or reason to his actions. There would be no difference between good and bad. A person's conscience is one of the few things that makes him good, however other humans do not have a similar impact on him. Humans tend to compare themselves to how they believe they are supposed to be rather than what they really are. As humans, men are bound to have faults - it is a part of human nature.
It is necessary for man to have these qualities. Without them, the world would be very different from how we know it today. Conflict exists because of the clashing of man's thoughts and ideas.
