He was born in Windsor, Ontario. Ken was the eighth born in a family of eleven children. Ken and his family grew up, just above the poverty level. Ken had to share his room with four other brothers. The room was very small and had two sets of bunk-beds and one bed in the closet. Throughout his childhood Ken had it rough. When he turned 16 he decided to move out. He justifies his early leaving as having to do it for the sake of his brothers and sisters. He figured that with him feeding himself, this would provide more food for his family. Ken was in grade eleven at WD Lowe technical school, when he was first out of the house. He shared an apartment with a war veteran who was unemployed and living off welfare. Shortly after returning home, Carol gave birth to their first born son. Richard Steven Soucie was born on September 29 1984.
