Media, The New Blame
“Media is the new evil of the world. It is the reason people are provoked to perform violent crimes.” This is a statement said by many American adults, most of the time without adequate knowledge about the subject. If they knew the facts, would they still say the same thing? Although it is a personal decision, generally speaking, media is to blame for violent crimes. There are a lot of facts supporting that media is to blame for provoking individuals into committing violent crimes. For instance, the more T.V. that a child watches, the less that he/she is disturbed by violent acts; it also shows that by the age of 18, the average person will have seen about 18,000 violent acts. Studies show that about 20 violent acts appear on children’s TV shows every hour. Children who see violence on TV are more likely to think that the world is a dangerous place, act violently against others, have less patience, or even leave objectives unfinished. There have been over 3,000 studies performed to prove a connection between media and violence. Most of them have been successful in showing some connection but not directly related (“Violence On Television 1”) (Fanning 1). Violence has bean a form of entertainment long before mode
