The events in Napoleon's life, from his rise to power and fame, to his institutionalizing of the Napoleonic Code, clearly show an example of how one brilliant man can influence and change so many lives. When Napoleon returned from Egypt, he was already starting to be seen as a hero everywhere. Yet, he decided to wait a while before he actually attempted to take direct seizure of power. At the height of his reign, Napoleon established many reforms in France. For instance, he established a centralized government and acquired control over the local government. Yet one of the biggest reforms he established, and possibly one of his best known and most appreciated accomplishments was the Napoleonic Code, which to this day influences not only France's legal system, but many others as well, including ours. The Napoleonic Code was completed in 1804, and Napoleon's goals for this were to incorporate the best of the old laws of France, and the best of the new standards, which were being upheld in the revolution.
