"Don't judge a book by its cover." First impressions can be deceiving and do not always reflect a person's true personality. Being in drill team was a great experience but it got off to a distressing start. The team's first impression of me was negatively influenced by a mishap portraying a different personality than I actually possess. A first impression should not always be a last impression.
Being in drill team is one of the greatest experiences. Every morning, my team would arrive long before the other students and practice stretching, marching with the band and our dance routines. On the Friday of our first pep rally, I had slept in and was late for practice. I rushed to get my uniform on and ran into the band hall as my instructor yelled at me to get on the field to march. I dashed to my assigned position and got in sync with my fellow company. Other then being a little late and unusually chilly, I was doing fine. I was finally getting my flank turns down when it was
time for us to stretch while the band continued marching on the field. Since the pep rally was in the morning, we didn't have a lot of time. People were already starting to arrive and we had to hurry to the stage. As we quickly went through each stretch, I noticed my uniform looked a little different than everyone else's. Then it hit me; I had forgotten my bloomers.
When a judgment is made in haste, it is usually made in error. Unfortunate situations are common and it is impossible to distinguish what a person is going through. Basing reputations on first impressions is a mistake made too often. Reputations are difficult to change and rarely depict the true nature of a person.
