A detailed Summary of Ethical Challenge (business ethics)


Having spent several years working for senior figures in a foreign country, I was credited with knowing everybody and knowing all the issues. If you wanted an in with any particular official, I could find it for you. If you wanted to know something, I could get that information.

When I finally burned-out the government was in the process of opening a diplomatic mission - so, having worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs - I was asked to join the core team and create the Commercial section.

The work was very challenging and interesting. Within 18 months we had a commercial section that was the talk of the Middle East. We were delivering staggering results for our size, having assisted firms obtain deals for goods and services in excess of 200 million.

The Managing Director of a very large firm in the telecommunications sector had purchased the tender documents for a particularly large deal, and was interested in getting the deal to demonstrate to the client that they could deliver excellent long-term services.

After working on his own for 10 months, this businessman approached me and asked me to arrange some introductions. As this is an integral part of the services we offer to companies I agree


He was very pleased with this response and immediately said "great, tell me who I have to pay to get this deal."
