On the 30th of January 1933, Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. This lead to the Nazis party being the only party allowed in the Reichstag, and giving them total control of Germany, without anyone to stop them. Their rise to power was turbulent, from a failed revolution to a modern political campaign.

The Nazis was started around about 1919, at first they were called the German worker's Party. They were unhappy at the government for signing the treaty of Versailles. They wanted to make Germany great again. At first it was only a tiny organisation, the first meeting only attracted 25 people. In September of 1919, a man called Adolf Hitler joined the party. He saw the opportunity to build a mass organisation out of this tiny organisation. He was put in charge of public relations and propaganda. He used his talent for propaganda and public speaking, to stir up the crowd at meetings. In April of 1920, Hitler changes the name of the party to National


In the mid 1920's hyperinflation hit Germany. This made prices for things rise to a very high level. The German Mark was practically worthless. People grew unhappier with the government blaming them for not stopping the inflation. They turned to extremist parties like the Nazis. Hitler told the people that he and his parties had the answer to all there problems. Many people believed this and joined the Nazis party. His support grew in this time of need. This is reflected in the number of deputies the Nazis party received.
