Should Children Be Encouraged to Believe in Mythical Charact

Should children be encouraged to believe in mythical characters such as Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy? I don't think children should be encouraged to believe in mythical characters such as Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy. Some of the reasons that I feel this way is that children sometimes become scared for life when they find out Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny are not real. Another reason that I think children should not be encouraged to believe in mythical characters is that is only playing with their mind. Finally, children shouldn't be encouraged to believe in mythical characters by there parents because if you teach your child not to lie, and then go and tell him or her that Santa Clause is real then you have just contradicted yourself by lying to your child.

Encouraging children to believe in mythical

characters such as Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny can sometimes scar a child for life. For example if a child is sitting a Santa's lap and accidentally pulls Santa's beard off and revels Santa is in fact only a person pretending to be the mythical character Santa Clause, how do you explain that to your child? If this happens to a child sometimes the child will begin to only believe in things he or she can see. Another example of how encouraging children to believe in mythical characters can scar them for life is that when a child first finds out that Santa Clause is not real he or she feels let down by there parents. They may not ever believe their parents again.

If you encourage your child to believe in mythical characters you are in fact lying to your child. If your values include teaching your son or daughter not to lie, and you go and tell
