The Color Purple is Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, It decades-spanning story of Celie, an uneducated woman living in the rural American south, during 1900-1940.The most of the story takes place in a village house. Celie is forced to marry a brutal man she calls "Mr.," she turns inward and shares her feelings and thoughts with God. She writes letters to God.
