Autery Museum of Western Heritage
For my history museum project, I went to visit the Autry Museum of Western Heritage. This museum is located near the L.A. Zoo at 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, California, 90027. It is open Tuesday through Sunday ten a.m. to five p.m. The general topic for the museum is the history of North America. The exhibit focuses on the colonies and cities that were created when New Spain was discovered. The main time frame of the museum was from the 1850’s to early 1900’s. The museum is about the North American continent. The museum is about the different people that traveled to America and how they settled into the new land. Even though, the subject was about all people that came to America, it was mainly focused on the Jewish settlers. Yet there were also some galleries that were focused on the Chinese and Mexicans. I was surprised to find that there was very little pertaining to the Native Americans. I really enjoyed some of the interesting ways that the museum tried to connect with the people. For example, outside of the museum there was a trail that was similar to what the pioneers had to go through to find new land. It was very interesting also because there was a wagon that we could actually sit on.
