Napoleon

Washington- does not want to run for President but people convince him that the country needs him. He's seen as a hero and no one questions the respect he commands. He did not have wooden teeth, contrary to popular belief, nor chop down the cherry tree. He did marry his wife, Martha Washington for her money. Anyway he agrees to run and he wins. He serves two terms from 1789-1797.

-Washington ran the country very well and chose to uphold the Constitution well also. He did not want to go to rule as if he was a king. He stayed true to the Constitution and the people's rights.

John Adams- is the first Vice President of the United States.

Bill of Rights- the first 10 amendments were passed in 1791.

Whiskey Rebellion-1791-was a test of the federal government's ability to enforce it's laws. Congress passes a tax on whiskey and far away farmers do not want to abide by it. Washington enforces the law with an army. This rebellion was never a serious military threat-it just proved that federalism could enforce the laws.

1793-France and England were at war with one another and France asks America for help. Washington denies to aid France because King Louie was beheaded and the alliance is now over.
