Beowulf

The story Beowulf was one of favorite stories. It has everything that I like about an epic tale. It seems like it was a story told about some man that actually did something back in the day. Since he did such powerful things, they blew everything he did out of proportion. It really reminds me when two guys are talking about their king or someone they have a lot of respect for. Each man has to up the other one. It is only a matter of time until they are exaggerating about their guy and stories begin to be told.

Beowulf encompasses many classical themes associated with medieval stories. When I began to read this story, I thought it was going to be some boring story that most English courses assign because it was supposed to be an important work of literature. As I proceeded through the book I began to like the story. I am really into medieval stories that are violent and deal with loyalty and justice. Beowulf, as a character, seems to be a hero and a villain in the story. He displays bravery and unrelenting determination. His care for his people displays him as a leader and as a typical medieval hero. His ways of accomplishing some deeds that he did portray him as a villain. Overall, the book was interesting and c

Beowulf, as villainous as he might have been, still exhibits qualities that a typical medieval hero would have. The fact that he was a good warrior meant he would have a high status and an advantage over many other people and foes. This also meant he would have people following him and protecting him because of the whole kinship idea going around. He also showed that he had loyalty in his blood when he went to go kill the dragon because it was bothering his people. He protected his people because they protected him. He was protective of his people, and all his good and wealth. This made him a father figure among his people. He was successful by being rich and being powerful. He owned the land and was the greatest warrior around. He had it all. Another thing that Beowulf showed was complete honor is everything he did. He fought with honor, acted with honor, and dies with honor. Honor is a big thing when it comes to medieval warriors. It is also a big deal when it comes to present-day warriors who go into battle with a certain mindset. Honor is what all the armed forces are based upon and the basis of life itself. You should live your life in honor and with honor and show it in everything that you do. My school motto was, "Teach me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge". Another feature of a Germanic hero is that the hero is male. I know that there were some influential women in the medieval time but the hero status usually belonged to the men. Another main feature about a hero is that he had to mai
