The Death of a Salesman
A detailed Summary of The Death of a Salesman
The theatrical production, Death of a Salesman, was a well presented performance. The show's main characters were Willy and his son Biff. Willy is a 60 year old man who has been a traveling salesman throughout his whole life. His family feels that he is at an age, where he should not be traveling anymore. Willy has developed symptoms of thinking and acting in the past. The family was having trouble dealing with this problem and only wants the best for him. They want Willy to ask his boss for a salesman job in the area where he resided. Willy can not bring it up to himself to ask for a new position. Willy's son, Biff, was a child with hopes and aspirations of being a professional football player. The hopes and dreams were shattered when he was not able to graduate academically. Willy was never able to accept the fact that his son failed at something he was great at doing.
The main setting was the household of Willy and his family. It resembled greatly to the time peri

Consequently, every performance has its flaws. The use of no microphones on the actors made it hard for the audience, especially, the last rows of the audience to understand some the lines being said. The voices tended to get lower and lower as they vibrated to the back of the arena. Microphones could have benefited the large auditorium. Also, the first flashback was very confusing to understand. All of a sudden the actor would step off the stage and act out a scene. The audience had to be thinking to themselves what was going on. However, as more flashbacks were occurring, the audience began to understand what was going on. Another flaw was the entering and exiting of the audience through the side doors. This happened mostly in the first act, which distracted the viewers. This weakness does not pertain to the actors. It should be
od that they were in. The house contains two bedrooms and kitchen that was viewable from the audience. Willy's flashbacks are conducted off of the house stage
