The Last of the Mohicans # 1 Duncan Heyward was a British Officer. He had one very true love in his life and her name was Cora. They had an incredible friendship that should have lead to marriage. Soon she disappeared from him. She began to love someone else whom Duncan became jealous of. Duncan has a deep love for Cora. He feels that she is everything to him. Through tough battles and fighting he protects Cora from danger. The last thing he wants is something to happen to her. He talks to Cora and thinks they should get married. He thinks it is just a really good friendship and should be the basis for their marriage. Unfortunately, Cora doesn't think so and doesn't want to marry him. Later, Cora meets Nathaniel or Hawkeye and he is a charming, handsome man. He likes Cora from the first time he sees her. He fights to protect her from he Indians. He falls in love with Cora and she falls in love for him. Cora is too be burned to death at a stake for punishment of her father, Colonel Edmund Monroe. Duncan is the only one that can translate and speak his language to talk to hi


m. He tells the Head Indian that they should take him, a British Officer, instead. Nathaniel wants them to take him because he loves her and he doesn't want anything to happen to her. Duncan who loves Cora and knows that she would only be happy with Nathaniel will not tell the Head Indian what Nathaniel said. Even though he tells Nathaniel he did. They then take Duncan instead of Cora and burn him at the stake. Duncan was a really brace character in this movie. He shows great love for Cora throughout the movie. He protects her throughout the battle. He wants only to marry her but understands why she can't. She then falls very much in love with Nathaniel. Duncan is jealous of Nathaniel but he realizes that she will only be happy with him. When Cora is to be burned at the stake Duncan can't let it happen. He takes his own life for her because he loves her so much and only wants her to be happy. It took great courage and bravery to take his life for Cora.
