Alice Munro

 In her short stories, "Rich as Stink" and "Royal Beatings", author Alice Munro uses a

limited omniscient point of view. These stories are very much alike in all aspects of point of

A limited omniscient point of view is one which uses the third person while talking about

all its characters. However, it has only a limited point of view. That is to say that the reader

only has access to certain character's thoughts. The fact that the stories are written in third

person is apparent because both main characters are referred to as either she or their name. The

quotes "Karin reached down and got some things out of her backpack." ("Rich as Stink" 249)

and "Rose and her father soon got beyond anything presentable" ("Royal Beatings" 1220) are
