Did President Roosevelt Deliberately Withhold Information About the Attack on Pearl Harbor From the American Commanders?Many people feel that President Roosevelt withheld information about the attack on Pearl Harbor from the Americans, including the author known as Robert A. Theobald. Theobald, is the author of the book called, “The Final Secret of Pearl Harbor”, published in 1954. He was also there at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, along with Admiral Husband E. Kimmel, when they appeared together and the officer testified in front of the Roberts Commission. Theobald believed that when France was overcome, President Roosevelt was convinced that Americans should help Great Britain fight against a “Nazi World”. However, our armed forces were not ready to go into combat, they were weak and not prepared for war. Theobald knew that something horrendous must happen in order for Congress to declare a war, and the American people may not even support that decision.
