In the year of 1972, in the country of France, the French revolution was causing chaos among its people. This was during the time of the Reign of Terror, and the guillotine was killing more people daily.

Sir Percy was the protagonist in this story, saving many lives. There was a great reward for his capture. A man named Chevelin, the antagonist, was trying to catch Sir Percy. Marguerite was the person who tried to help Chevilin find out the true identity of the Scarlet Pimpernel. That was, until she found out he was her husband, Sir Percy.

I am a film director trying to re-create this wonderful story. I have come up with three stars in which I think could best play Sir Percy, Lady Marguerite, and Chevelin. I have carefully looked over many of the characteristics th

Val Kilmer is a good actor to play Chevelin. Val Kilmer has played in Tombstone, The Saint, Batman Forever and Top Gun. Val Kilmer and Chevelin both are quite the pair, when it comes to being conceited. In the book, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Chevelin makes the remark to Sir Percy about him not wanting to go to Paris, "Not for an English gentlemen, like yourself" "Who takes no interest in conflict that is raging there."(Orczy pg.251) This quote certainly shows that Chevelin is very conceited. Val Kilmer can play the part as being smart, but only to a certain point. He can play the part of being cold hearted, and wanting to be in control. Chevelin is a power seeker, and Kilmer can play the part well. In the movie Top Gun, it is very obvious that Val Kilmer wants to be in the lead.
