At first the story is rather boring, always the same things happen, basically, nothing major ever does happen. Black Beauty, a beautiful black horse, talks about his life, as well as other horses'. He explains how, sometimes, human tend to forget horses are living creatures and have feeling and they can also feel pain. In other words, he denunciates humans' cruelty towards animals, and more specifically, horses. Black Beauty, who is a handsome, strong sweet tempered, spirited and with very fine instincts, has had many owner changes, each one of them making him doo all kinds of tasks, from being a cab horse in town to a carriage horse on a country estate. This story mainly happens in England, but never at a particular place, sometimes Beauty will go trough the forest with his master, sometime he'll stay at his owner's place. (Merry Legs and Ginger) in one of his early living places. Mainly the story is about the horses and his life so most characters are horses too but there are some humans as well. The only ones appearing in the book are somehow related to horses (owners and such). When he was a young colt, Beauty had good and caring masters so he was well taken care of but later on, he got unlucky and ended up with some bitter, cruel handed and completely indifferent masters as Beauty is being passed from hand to hand, progressing from London's country and back again.

If Anna Sewell was to rewrite this classic, I would probably suggest her to make the plot a little more interesting, not just make it like Black Beauty's daily diary. Sure there are some interesting things that happen but I would personally like it better if there was something REALLY going on. Though, she probably wouldn't change this very famous book in so many generations, I guess she could just make the book shorter. That way people who easily get bored won't be wishing the book ends as soon as possible. Perhaps, just because the book is so famous and a classic, I was just expecting it to be more entertaining. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book but there are some parts I didn't like so much. Some of the things I really liked about Black Beauty, is that Anna Sewell, trough her writing, probably touched so many people's lives from all over the world, I believe animals shouldn't be treated cruelly, as I said before, they are living creatures, and they have the right to live and be happy just like humans do. So Black Beauty, is in my opinion, a book that made a difference, it's not just another b
