Government Parties
The National Wildlife Federation is a conservation group that is spread throughout the United States. They range from good old Alaska, to Vermont, to Texas, and a lot of other states. They were founded in 1936, by J.N. Darling. Their main focus is education. They believe that books and hands-on nature programs will provide the information to children and adults that they need to be aware of certain situations. They also hope that it will inspire the people to love and protect nature. Here in Alaska the NWF wants to protect several different things. One of them is the Arctic Refuge. They think that it is not an appropriate spot to drill for oil. They claim that ANWR is too wild to waste. They also say that anyone who loves America's wildlife would speak-out and try to protect it. Another thing that they want to protect is the wetlands. One of the specific wetlands they want to protect is The Copper River Delta. It is actually a wetlands complex and covers 700,000 acres. This area is vulnerable to logging and mining. The NWF is the nations largest member-supported conservation group. Ma
In fact, they believe that teaching young people to think about the environment is as important as teaching them to read and write. The Sierra Club tries to inform as many people about as many topics of concern as they can. Some of them have to do with energy, clean water, wild lands, human rights, and global population. They believe that all of these things will effect the environment and that we should do something about it. Like I stated before, they do not force their opinions upon people. They just inform them of the situation and then let the people make up their own decisions. The first one is, "Explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth." The next one is, "Practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources." The third one is, "Educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment." The last one is, "Use all lawful means to carry out these objectives." From these statements I received the impression that this group is not as forceful as the other groups. It seems like they want to educate people and do their best to take care of
