Autobiography of Malcolm X report

Malcolm X was born as Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska but was raised in Michigan. His father was a civil rights activist and his mother a supportive house wife. When Malcolm's mother was pregnant with him their home in Nebraska was raided by the Klu Klux Klan, who was strictly against the activism of his father. They escaped that night, but one fateful in Detroit day after Malcolm's mother and father had a heated argument he stormed into town where he would be killed by a white mob who considered him to be "uppity". After his fathers death Malcolm's family started to deteriorate, most significantly his mother. Social Services eventually stepped in as the home literally fell apart, physically and emotionally. Malcolm and his siblings were placed under the care of some friends of the family while his mother was placed in a mental institution. Shortly thereafter Malcolm became mischievous getting into trouble at school. Social Services placed him into a home with a white woman known for taking care of troubled children. He went to all white schools, where he was eventually adopted the white culture and fit in. He was even elected class president in the 7th grade. Everything seemed alright until one day Malcolm was asked by his tea


After dodging the draft, Malcolm made a living selling drug to customers on the railroad, using his pass from his former employment there as a free ride until it was safe to return to Harlem. Malcolm quit selling drugs for a little bit and returned to being a bartender and became big on gambling, playing the numbers all of the time, which almost got him killed. After telling the runner West Indian Archie that he had hit he received 300 dollars. Later on, Archie came back pissed ready to kill Malcolm because he thought Malcolm didn't hit. They never found out which one of them was right. Fearing his life, Malcolm returned to Boston where he met up with Shorty. Together they decided to go into burglary with their girlfriends; two white women. Before the first job Malcolm played Russian roulette with a gun to show them that he wasn't scared to die and he just didn't care. After pulling several successful jobs, they were caught by a Detective Slack. Instead of killing him, Malcolm gave him the gun and he was just grilled instead of beat. Malcolm was sentenced to 10 years in prison with the possibility of parole after seven years at the age of twenty.

Malcolm's first death order was issued. Rebellious Muslims were quitting the Nation to join Malcolm, adding to the fear that the end of his life was near. Malcolm then took his pilgrimage to Mecca, as he was still supportive of the Muslim religion. What he saw there completely changed him. He saw all kinds of different colored Muslims paying respect to each other and treating each other equally. Malcolm began seeing the colorblindness of the Muslim Nation and the Nations refusal to accept it. Inspired by his visit to Mecca, Malcolm decided to sever his ties with the Nation of Islam and direct his fight more the tune of Martin Luther King, Jr. Malcolm continued to speak and do speeches, changing the direction of his struggle. He soon became known as the angriest black man in America, accused of promoting violence, but he simply replied that he didn't believe in violence, but justice. Before delivering a speech at the Audubon Ballroom, Malcolm X was fatally shot and wounded after a planned altercation to direct attention from him gave time for his killers to shoot him.

Malcolm would not marry because of his experience with women in his hustling days. But one sister, Betty X changed all of that, she was deeply intellectual like Malcolm and the go married quickly because Malcolm did not want to go to a big wedding.
