Animal Farm- Comming to power
In George Orwell's Story Animal Farm we read about the overthrown of an established power system by the characters that, at the beginning, don't fully realized that they usurp the same power. Animal Farm takes place at the Manor Farm, in England. One day an aged boar, Old Major, was preaching to his fellows animals, comrades from the farm, about a dream he has. His sermon was about great visions and beautiful horizons for all the animals in the world. The enemy of all the animals was man , tyrant that feeds on the misery of all the animals. Only his overthrowing could end their doomed, tragic lives. The rebellion against their enemy was coming. The old pig's idealistic visions of the animal world in which all animals are equal, had been exciting news for all the four-legged gatherers, who had been listening to the eye-opening slogans of freedom, especially to the pigs who "settled down in the straw immediately in front of the platform". The story of the Orwell's novel Animal Farm continues revealing more and more the pigs' hungry craving for power. Soon after the brilliant speech of Old Major, the boar died but his dreams about the animal freedom, executed only through the rebellion against the man, were not forgotte
The first hours of the free living in the farm were already marked with the dominance and superiority of the pigs. When the cows started to complain about theirs swollen utters, the pigs were the ones who hurried up to milk them only to use the milk for their own purposes behind the backs the other animals. The animal's work was directed by the smartest, most intelligent creatures of the farm, the pigs. They were in control of all the decisions that were made for the good of all animals. The animals' dwelling was a joyful and happy place. Since Old Major was dead and Mr. Jones gone, the animals, ironically needed a supervising leader of the new Animal farm where all the dwellers were equal and free. The seven commandments, that were mentioned by the visionary, Old Major, were written on the old barn's wall. The first one stated that four legs are good, two legs are bad. The last one stated that all animals equal. The momentum of the pigs' power was the moment when the last commandment which stated that all the animals are equal was changed to:"all animals are equal but other animals are more equal". After that the transformation of the pigs progressed quickly to the point that the pigs, became undistinguishable from humans. They all were walking on their hind legs, parading to a tremendous bleating of "Four legs good, two legs better". Not long after the death of Old Major, the rebellion became the reality. The master of the Manor Farm, Mr.Jones ,was driven out from the farm by the hungry and neglected animals. The farm, was renamed, by the new owners, the Animal Farm. A new era of freedom had come to the insignificant farm in England. The freedom of all animals could echoed in the bleating of sheep : "Four legs good, two legs bad."
