Addiction vs. Obsession
A detailed Summary of Addiction vs. Obsession
I have chosen these two words because I feel that many people tend to mistake the words for each other, having the same definition or connecting each other by saying they are synonyms. When a person is constantly uses drugs because they just can't get enough of it, would you say the person is addicted or obsessed? When a person is in love with a rock star, cutting all the pictures out of a magazine and taping them all over her wall because she says she loves him and can't get enough of him, would you say the person is addicted or obsessed? As you can clearly see, the words have two distinctive meanings. Addiction is to be dependent on a drug, etc. Obsession is to become preoccupied constantly by a person or thing. The first person is addicted to drugs and the other is obsessed with a rock star.
We use the word "addicted" when relating with drugs because although the victim loves to use drugs, they feel as if they have to; they need to. Some victims of drugs or alcohol hate that they need drugs to feel normal, but they cannot quit because they are, obviously, addicted to drugs. To qickly acknowledge both words, one can easily tell that when one is addicted, they need it; when one is obsessed, they just seem to want it, and

As you can clearly see, I have tried to exhaust the subject where as you can distinctively tell the difference between addiction and obsession. People tend to give the generalization that the owrds both mean to "want", to "desire", touse or do constantly. The present is almost the same, the results are completely different. Addiction will leave someone ill; obsession will not. Many people have a tendency to overlook the difference between the two words. I, on the other hand, have chosen otherwise.
Obsession is less harmful to yourself and to others. It can be as easy as be a rock star's num,ber one fan. It may preoccupy your time because he or she may be first in your life, but it is harmless. Someone can be obsessed with Elvis perhaps, but the feeling may go away due to his death or because, it just does. She may say that she is obsessed with him and she loves him, but does she need him to stay "normal"? When the rock star dies, are they going to go ballistic and become physically or mentally ill? They just want them because they are talented, cute, or maybe because it is the media which pursuades everybody which pursuades you to love him. Obsession could be play video games. Yes, it will occupy a lot of your time, but do you need games or else something unfavorable will occur to your body? Mayb
