Sales Call Planning Report

The company that we chose as our prospect is Murry's Autobody & Autosales. Melvin Murry is the owner of this establishment. Murry's opened in September of 1996 with a focus on autobody repair. The owner, Melvin Murry, began painting cars in a two-stall garage in the back of a friends' house before he was hired by Louis Huffman to work at Huffman's Autobody. Huffman's Autobody was located at 1501 S.W. Jefferson, in Peoria, IL. After working at Huffman's for approximately one year, Mr. Murray and Mr. Huffman became partners in order to be able to distribute the overhead costs.

When Louis Huffman chose to sell his share of the partnership, Melvin Murry bought him out and became sole While Louis Huffman had been very good at body repair and custom paint jobs, he had a terrible reputation relating to his honesty. Melvin had to work especially hard to change the stigma that had been attached to his business location. As the owner, Melvin Murry first changed the name of the business and the entire infrastructure of the building Melvin began changing the image of the business by painting cars for less than his competitors and providing better-than-expected customer service. Murry also expressed an interest in the ability to sell his used cars, rims, and other products online through e-commerce. E-commerce is a big step with large investments, from more expensive servers to higher security costs. We will present this feature to him and design his site with the ability to add e-commerce. However, we will advise him to create the initial site without e-commerce and consider it as a step for the future. We will gladly set up an e-commerce site for him, but we want him to be happy with the results of his site first before he makes such a large leap. Some of the advantages of e-commerce that he can look forward to are a reduction in paperwork with more electronic transactions, a better management of inventory through electronic orders, and an added value for routine customers who know exactly what they want. Murry can add this feature at any time through his partnership with us.
