Description of a Baseball
The baseball is the ball used in the sport of Baseball, which is played by two opposing teams of nine players (10 in smaller leagues), alternating batting and fielding. The baseball is the most important object in the sport because the entire game revolves around the ball’s location within the playing field. There are many types of baseballs available to the public; this is due to the vast difference in ages of baseball players. The ball described in this paper is the one used by the players and coaches of the Major League Baseball Association TM. The standards for the modern baseball were not regulated until the late 1880’s. It was during this era when the National League of Professional Base Ball (National League) and the American Association (American League) were the dominant figures and set the rules and regulations in which several other leagues adhered to. These two leagues would later combine to from the Major League Baseball Association TM. The first types of baseballs were constructed from yarn wound around a cork center with two stripes of horsehide or cowhide held tightly together by stitches also known as the seam.
