Teens and younger children are the most prone to peer pressure because of the fear of not being accepted. Adolescence is the prime indicator that peer pressure is right around the corner. Adolescence is when you know you’re not a kid anymore, when you’re body begins to change, when you’re hormones become active, and when you know the time has come to make important decisions about you’re life. Peer pressure usually begins around the time adolescence kicks in, which makes things even more stressful in a youth’s life. There are many aspects concerning the social expectations in one’s peer group, which is usually the base of peer pressure.

Peer groups, in many ways, help make the process easier to move from depending upon your parent to becoming independent. “To be able to stand up on your own, without you parents, you need to feel that you are worth something. Sharing secrets, fears, and adventures with your friends strengthens your sense of your own value.
