Pessimist- definition essay
Suppose you and a group of your close friends are on a road trip across the United States. It's just you and five friends cramped together in a van on the open road, with nothing to pass the time except conversation. Things seem to be going fairly smoothly; however, after about a couple days or so you realize that your friend (let's call him "bob") is getting on your nerves. Bob has had a bad attitude about the trip from day one, and he's taking it out on you and your other friends. He is irritated quite easily, and arguments regularly break out. His gloomy attitude has put a damper on the trip, turning it from a liberating experience to something you and all of your friends would rather end as soon as possible. All in all, Bob has seemed to have single handedly ruined the trip with his bad attitude and gloomy outlook. Bob is a pessimist. We had already been assigned a 200-word essay written in Spanish, it was overwhelming to say the least. Frank came over to my house so we could help each other write our essays. I began brainstorming about how we could go about writing the essay; however, Frank just sat there. "Why aren't you getting started?" I asked. He replied by telling me that it was no use, that he couldn't do it, that he was stupid, and he might as well not even give it a try because it would turn out bad anyway. I ignored him for a while and continued working on my essay. He was still sitting there doing nothing when I finished. It was typical "Frank" behavior, always being down on himself and having a gloomy outlook on everything. Labeling someone as a pessimist is not something to be taken lightly, you cannot just call someone a pessimist because of one instance. However, with Frank's many examples of being impossible to deal with, having a gloomy outlook of everything, and having lack of faith in almost ev
