Writer
"You'll never think of anything," was the thought that kept running through my head. How could this be when I have always been such a good writer? Well, it happened, so call the doctor because this was the worst case of writer's block in the history of the world. Maybe you need a little background information. I was taking Theatre Appreciation at Darton College in Albany, Ga. I figured that it would be an easy 'A' because I had always been active in the theatre there, and the guy teaching the class was the director first, but he was also my bud. So anyway, at the beginning of the semester he gave us each a partner in the class and a chapter out of the book to do this big huge oral report on. He gave my partner and me playwriting. I sat at my computer and, well I just sat there. Nothing came to mind. So I met up with jack later that afternoon and totally spilled the beans. I told him everything. I told him about the first play that was a flop, and the second play that never happened. He was impressed; he was impressed that I had decided to learn about a topic by experiancing it first hand. I should have realized it then, but anything I wrote would have been good enough. He was pleased with what I had already attempted and the experience I had gained from it. But I am a little thick headed and I still wanted to go in there with Broadway caliber work. ique and creative.....but what should I do. I would have my partner do the text book work and I would write a play give my experiences writing the play then have a few people out of the class perform it. This is where the story goes to hell. The last night before the project was due, I reached the end of my desperation. I bit back my pride and asked my boyfriend, a theatre major, to help me. He wrote me
