Through the years, money has passed through my hands numerous times. But did I ever stop to think how the money got there? When kids are young, they receive their income via their parents, either through allowance, working for it through chores, or just plain out getting it handed to them. When the money starts to bury a whole in the young one's life, he hit's the nearest toy store. Once the toy is paid for and taken home, the child plays with the toy and wears it out. Then, not another thought is made about where the toy came to be. Over time, I have left those days of buying toys, destroying them, and going on to my next big adventure. I have learned to appreciate how the money is earned, what I invest the money into, and the value of my life.
ather handed me my allowance, was that of an adult winning the lottery-- even after I didn't do my chores that week. I didn't care that he worked ten hour days, six days a week just to be able to give that token of affection. All I was thinking about was the new "Power Ranger" action figure. Now that I had the money nothing else mattered. I would just stick it in my pocket and let it call my name out saying, "take me to the store." In the present, I work those ten hour days, six days a week to earn that money. Once I receive the money, I put it somewhere safe, for example the bank. Instead of the money burning a hole in my pocket, I budget my money making sure every penny counts. Earning the money from hard work and dedication taught me to acknowledge the meaning of money.
