The Big One

In the movie, The Big One, Michael Moore encounters many major social problems. He encounters people of all different social classes with all different types of conflicts. Moore encounters companies shutting down and the people that are being laid off because of the shutdowns. He encounters people who are not being paid enough and also investigates an issue on teenage workers in Indonesia. Michael Moore has many encounters with different social conflicts and in a non-typical type of way tries to resolve the problems.

One of the very first problems Moore runs into is the company called Centralia shutting down. They were also afraid to meet Moore in public in fear that they might be seen by their coworkers or managers. In the end, Moore discussed the situation with the Border's presidents and managers and got an increase in the clerks' pay.

Moore was treated the same in almost every company he visited. He was automatically requested to leave, or asked to put away the camera. In the Pillsbury factory, Moore was told he could only ask one question, and it had to be written on a yellow sticky note and the he would then be asked to leave. Even speaking to a human resource director was no help. The human resource director was just as rude to Moore as the others were. This confused Moore as a human resource director usually knows how to deal with people since it is their job. I believe Moore was treated the way he was because of the fact that he was trying to prove the companies wrong and show them their wrongdoings. The companies did not want to adm
